Roseate Spoonbills are some of the most fascinating species of wading birds, featuring distinct bill shapes and bold colors. We often take trips to Jefferson Island in LA to observe, draw, and photograph the birds in the rookery. It's clear why this area is a favored nesting habitat; the surrounding waters are teeming with life. Here, Roseate Spoonbills, Herons, and Egrets can be seen gathering food and tending to their young. As they go about their daily routine, one must be vigilant of lurking Alligators! As the only Spoonbill species native to the Western Hemisphere, the Roseate Spoonbill's coloring is particularly remarkable. It derives its vivid shades of pink from the carotenoid pigment in its diet of fish, crayfish, and crab.

Transform your space with the power and beauty of Art

Through my art I strive to capture a "moment in time" allowing us to take a journey in our minds each time we view it. Traveling the world to observe wild animals in their natural habitat I hope to gain a deeper insight into the trials of "living on the edge” and to bring a sense of life to every canvas.
