High Above
Perched high in the tangled branches of an ancient tree, the leopard watched the savanna with unwavering intensity. I remember the hush that fell over our group as we spotted him—muscles coiled, golden eyes fixed on the horizon, every sense attuned to the drama unfolding below. Moments earlier, a lion had emerged from the tall grass, drawn by the scent of a hidden kill. The air was thick with tension; predator watching predator, each aware of the other’s presence, each calculating its next move.
This painting captures that charged moment—the silent standoff, the wild intelligence in the leopard’s gaze, and the delicate balance of survival that plays out every day in the African bush. For me, it’s a window into the secret lives of these remarkable animals, a reminder of the stories that unfold when we are patient enough to watch and listen.
