I made this blue sapphire pendant after a morning walk beside a stream that mirrored the deep blue of the sky. I translated that cool pool of color into a faceted sapphire cradled by hand-formed sterling-silver leaf shapes on either side; the silver spirals echo curled foliage and guide the eye upward along the chain. The piece reads as a small, wearable fragment of the landscape—delicate yet assured—and expresses the quiet attraction I've always felt to sapphire's blue beauty.
