Lord of the River
In "Lord of the River", I wanted to transport the viewer to the rivers of Africa, to relive the up close and awe-inspiring sight of the largest land animal. I was inspired to create this painting after a chance encounter I had on safari, where I saw a massive bull elephant dominating the river. The scene is complemented by the beautiful Carmine Bee Eaters that add a splash of color as they swiftly fly through the area. By using a combination of movement, texture, and light, my goal with "Lord of the River" was to create a sense of the elephant's strength and power as it ruled over its territory.
